I subscribed a 3 years plan with PureVPN to use it on openelec with their addon.
Rarely, their VPN works, most of the time, it does not.
Chat Support is only a very stupid chatbot (LiveChat), with repeated textblocks, totally useless and a waste of time.
E-mail support is very bad. They ask you to install Firefox on your openelec (this is like asking a cyclist to install a steering wheel) and other impossible things like this.
Refund requests don’t get a positive answer.
I now have about 30 support ticket numbers, none of them got a useful or usable answer.
Stay away from these thieves!

In addition, ISPs and surveillance agencies were on the move to track user’s transactions, browser history, phone calls, messages, and even social media activities.
So to avoid these kinds of tracking and monitoring I decided to have a separate internet connection and for that, I subscribe to PureVPN for multiple reasons.
Basically, I’m a person like those things which provide value for money. Initially, I installed the PureVPN app on my iPhone and Macbook because at that time I was using only those two devices.
Later on, I came across an article where I read how PureVPN can be set up on a router to help you secure all your devices at once. After reading that article and doing some more research I configured PureVPN on my router and now every device in my home is protected.
Unfortunately I cannot recommend PureVPN. I foolishly signed up for a 2 year deal on the basis they advertise support with my Router and L2TP/IPsec. They do support my router and they do support L2TP/IPsec however they don’t support using L2TP/IPsec on my Router. Very misleading.
No problem I thought, I will use their 30 days money guarantee…..however there doesn’t appear to be one. I have asked for a refund 4 times and every time their support staff are elusive and don’t response to my request for a refund.
They have clearly been told to avoid customer refunds at all costs. A very poor strategy that will come back to bite them.
Their iOS and Android work fun. Manually connects are really hit and miss and you’re on your own. Really bad customer service. I would suggest that you avoid PureVPN for this reason.

Also as for refunds, maybe you’re not asking for a refund from the same email that you signed up with. Try emailing them with the same email you signed up with and you should get refunded within a couple of days.
My story is similar to all those frustrated and fed up with PureVPN. They mislead, they stall, they ignore you. I foolishly signed up for a 3 year subscription. Everything I own is iOS. They must have decided that being compliant with Apple products is not worth the effort. Now where does that leave the Apple customer who signed up because they ADVERTISED they supported the platform with an APP? Correct, it leaves you NOWHERE. IF YOU ARE WISE: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE.

The first few months I had PureVPN I was not that happy with it. It would log out frequently leaving my IP vulnerable, log in problems and a few other little quirts. Has been extremely reliable, the software is straight forward to use, and the cross OS support is fantastic. On nearly a daily basis I use their client on Windows, iOS, and Android. My only tip is if you are finding your experience less than acceptable try different countries/cities until you find an area that works well for you. This is an awful service. I signed up towards the beginning of last year after reading countless glowing reviews, while foolishly ignoring the more critical reviews. The unparalleled speeds they boasted were probably the primary draw, and those definitely did not disappoint. The client GUI is very clean and easy to navigate, and there are a decent number of servers to choose from. Until a few months back, the service worked fine, more or less. I’d get occasional DNS leaks on some servers, and would have to trial/error my way through the list before finding a good one, but the servers always seemed to correct themselves after a few days. Being a fairly patient person, I wasn’t too bothered by the inconvenience of bouncing between servers, so long as I eventually found one that was secure.
As of today, I have officially abandoned PureVPN in favor of NordVPN. Over the last few weeks, I have been having DNS leaks on pretty much every server I test, and all of my favorite go-to servers have become unusable. While connection speeds have remained consistently well above average, I’ve started having issues with my connection “stalling” — that is, I’ll lose connectivity to the internet and have to disconnect from the server. The issue is not my internet (I know that user-error is the prime suspect in these cases), as disconnecting immediately restored full connectivity. For whatever reason, their server decided to take a nap, forcing me to abruptly expose myself in order to change servers.
Go with NordVPN. They’re not much more expensive, and their speeds are not much slower. I started using it about an hour ago, and I already feel much more secure. I’m thinking that the people posting positive reviews either don’t regularly test the security of the servers they connect to, or they’re shills.

Connection worked fine for the first few months, then, after a few months, it started dropping every few minutes, making it impossible to use. I’ve tried everything the helpdesk suggested but nothing would work. Clearly a problem on their side, but they refused to refund. So, stay well away. From the very start the service was a problem. It took uncounted contacts to their tech service to FINALLY get it set up. I should have known then. The techs NEVER read what the one right before them had written. In addition, the “solution” they most often gave was to go to one of their “help pages”. The problem is, none of those pages have been updated and no longer look ANYTHING like what the app now looks like. Finally, it worked…. for about two months before the node which I needed stopped worked and defaulted to another town 200 miles away. Suddenly, I was back in the same cycle. And when they couldn’t’ resolve the issue, their solution was to say, “Sorry.” AVOID THIS VPN!!!

I completely agree with Nick. The only reason I still use this is because I got the 2 year subscription. I may just bite the bullet and get something else any way. I have tried to connect to every server I can and I’m lucky if I get 10 mb/s of my gigabit internet connection. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t expect gigabit internet over VPN but 100-300 mb/s is not asking too much. My complaint is that I have gotten 300+ in the past but now I can’t get over 10. Support is a joke. As Nick said you talk to a different person every single response. and every 3rd response is the canned original response. Their “solution” is to use the Chrome extension (which can get me 300 mb/s) but I didn’t buy a VPN to only protect one browser.

I had subscribed to purevpn annual plan and been using their service for about three months. A distressing aspect of their service is the dashboard of client. If I enter a name of a country in server list, and then try to rename it, I will be halted with a bug. Besides this flaw, the service without any doubt offers remarkable performance and features like internet kill switch, dedicated IP and much more.
Also, when I had tried to download a torrent from YIFY using purevpn, I faced sluggish network speed and it took hours to download a 782 MB movie file. I believe that degraded download speed was resulted by congestion on the US server. Can you suggest how can I improve my torrent downloading speed?
I just read your PureVPN review and it seems to be different from other websites. Which is a good thing I guess, since everyone is bashing the hell out of the provider. For me, it has worked well so far. I subscribed to their service almost a year back and I mainly use it when accessing my bank account. One of the things I noticed is the drop in speeds when I select maximum security settings. Perhaps that’s because of how a VPN functions (sorry I am not a techy). But overall the VPN has not caused any troubles that would make my life difficult.

I recently updated purevpn’s app on my iphone! It’s good that they fixed many issues that I was previously facing, like unexpected disconnection from servers. But I feel they can still do more to providing protocols. The latest version of iOS doesn’t support PPTP any longer. Which makes sense since PPTP is out dated and obsolete in many parts of the world. With that aside, having the option to change the language of the app is a nice touch, I can now use the app in Spanish. But I feel that my phone gets slowed down when I have the app running, is anyone else facing the same issue?
PureVPN is one of those services that will work perfectly most of the time but when things go wrong, they really go wrong. I used Purevpn on Windows for almost a year and had no problems. But as soon as I installed their new app on my Mac, I had frequent disconnections and slow internet speeds. The best thing which I like about purevpn is it’s split tunneling add-on. I use vpn for my office work whenever I am not in my home town. Due to online security we have to use a static ip which we white-list from our network administrator. Previously when I start work and in the mean time I am unable to visit social media and other sites because of using the white list IP, but after using the split tunneling option of pure I am using the both thing together on the same laptop. That is an awesome feature and the main reason to use pure.
Read their 7 day refund policy very, very carefully….They say if you exceed 3GB in 7 days then they will not give you a refund.

I tried their service for 4 days and had a lot of server problems. They kept offering solutions but none worked. When I asked for the refund they then come up and say that you crossed the 3GB data limit.

I am using PureVPN from 18 months, yes there are some problem while using it on dynamic IP. But when you come on its dedicated IP then this may be one of the best VPN Provider. I personally use Netflix and Hulu while it’s dedicated IP which i originally get for my office use. I never get any buffering or picture quality issue which pure static IP. The only feature which i wish is pure offer is SmartDNS service which they recently pull down.

Many VPNS worked with Netflix, but Netflix has started active hunt. I’ve seen multiple comments on reddit saying that PureVPN is not good for watching Netflix anymore… 🙁
I tried to cancel my service under their “Hassle free 7-days refund policy”, after 3 days and well within the download limit, but was given the runaround for days. I have now raised a dispute with PayPal. Purevpn’s response was: “you are requested to please wait now, since you have opened the dispute and we
have to wait for the decision that is made by the paypal”.

This is a load of rubbish. PureVPN is a scam. I spent hours working with “them” to make a connection only to finally conclude it does not work where i reside. They then informed me by email that my fully paid account was blocked until “with trembling fingers you must first verify your identity by sending a scanned document with your name and address on it (a clear attempt at identity theft is what that is!). I decided to terminate my account after that message, which was within 24 hours of opening it, and here it is 10 days later and no refund despite the claim that they will give a full refund within 7 days of opening an account. After repeated emails to them (we are always available 24/7) there is still no acknowledgement that they will abide by their full refund claim. Stay away from these scam artists if you know what is good for you.
+1…have just had the very same experience. They say they will refund but at the time of refund they come up with excuses of why they cannot refund.
Cannot connect to their servers but they claim I used up over 3GB of data.
I have never used the PureVPN smartphone apps so I don’t know about any of that fancy mumbo jumbo, but my daughter installed the PureVPN dialer thiny on my desktop when she visited me last year on Christmas and I haven’t had any problems with the service ever since. I watch everything I want to see and even all the good shows on the netflix and bbc iplayer websites work wonderfuly. Bless my daughter for setting up PureVPN on my desktop for me. I dont know what I would have done without it. You get a little reluctant to learn about new technology at my age. I google it up sometimes when I feel that the speed might be slow or something, but the live chat people are always so helpful and friendly. I felt that the speed was dropping a bit once so I went to their website and told them. The had it fixed within the hour. Very nice people really. The poor people on the PureVPN live chat often tell me to try the tutorial guides, some purevpn reviews, or forums but when I tell them that I’m a little handicapped because of my age, they use TeamViewer to fix my problems. It truly is a marvelous feeling to get service like that.

hi there community take care they are stealing your money, I bought 4 times 12 months licenses from purvpn to use them for the whole family but their servers are not secure at all german webpages find out your geo location with ease as I requested back my money as purevpn is advertising with their 3 days money back guarantee I was left aside for 3 weeks after I started a conflict through paypal who also did not support me with this as it is no phisikal thing a license so purevpn manager had a nice lunch on my costs and I also got no access to my new licenses anyway because I involved paypal. think twice befor you get there any license. greetings a friend

I wonder what configuration that official clients provide,since I tried installing PureVPN client on windows in VMWare it has two options,one for China and the other for the rest of the world.Yeah I’m not familiar with network stuff though I’m not a newbie to Linux,here for example,I’ve never figured out what is a router all about de facto mentioned by people,a small device out there which is used to connect to internet and put right on your computer running all the time?Well,I don’t use that,I connect through PPPOE with a cable directly linked on my laptop.I guess it’s the configuration provided by them makes sense.

and it can do so much better as well. I used to use hide my ass before because
the number of servers they had to offer was out of this world but I soon
realized that I do not really need all those servers. Switching to PureVPN

I just wish to heaven that purevpn would work on its
interface. The other vpn providers have nice eye friendly colors and purevpn
has an interface that looks like something out of a sega game from two decades
ago.
