Yahoo News: China using Huawei as ‘hi-tech wedge’ to drive US and UK apart, senator warns

Yahoo News reports on remarks given by U.S. Senator Tom Cotton to UK members of Parliament on the difficulty US intelligence agencies would face in sharing intel with their British partners should the country accept Huawei 5G technology. Due to Chinese domestic laws, Huawei has to acquiesce to Chinese intelligence agencies request to access their company’s telecommunications technology, making any 5G Huawei equipment a potential security breach. As Senator Cotton says, the issue is a “high-tech wedge” in the US-UK relationship.
