The Biden administration plans to let a Trump era rule restricting certain technology transfers with Chinese owned companies to take effect next month. The rule would enable the U.S. Commerce Department to, “ban technology-related business transactions that it determines pose a national security threat, part of an effort to secure U.S. supply chains,” according to the Wall Street Journal. Some industry experts and American companies have voiced their displeasure over the proposed rule, claiming that it would stifle technological innovation and overall hurt American competitiveness.
