WSJ: Chinese Surveillance-Gear Maker Hikvision Has Ties to Country’s Military, Report Says
Tue May, 2021, Age: 2 years
According to a new report by the surveillance-industry research company IPVM, the world’s largest maker of surveillance equipment has long-established ties to the Chinese military apparatus. Public documents show that Hikvision sold drones and other equipment to the Chinese air force in 2019 and earned top-tier military supplier rates as early as 2014. Hikvision has disputed as baseless a decision by the U.S. Department of Defense to add it to a blacklist of companies with alleged ties to China’s armed forces.
