TOI: China backs Brics meet in India, Xi Jinping may attend it

In a sign that tensions between India and China may be approving, China announced on Monday that it supported the Brics summit to be hosted by India in the latter half of the year and indicated that President Xi Jinping may attend. Chinese spokesman Wang Wenbin said, “China supports India’s hosting of this year’s Brics conference, and is willing to work with India and other Brics countries to continue to strengthen communication and cooperation in various fields, consolidate the “three-wheel drive” cooperation framework of economics, politics and humanities.”
