Newport Wafer Fab (NWF), the largest microchip factory in the United Kingdom, has raised alarms of Chinese-owned firm Nexperia’s possible takeover of the site. NWF wrote to business secretary Kwasi Kwarteng to warn of the takeover, but Kwarteng argued that Nexperia did not pose a national security concern. Nexperia is a Chinese-owned chip company based in The Netherlands.
