The Guardian: Kris Wu arrest raises hopes for China’s #MeToo movement

The arrest of one of China’s biggest pop stars on rape allegations had raised hopes that authorities were finally addressing the country’s #MeToo movement. For many women in China, the arrest tentatively felt like it might signify a change, with society and authorities finally taking threats and abuses against women more seriously.
