The Guardian: China’s UK ambassador denies abuse of Uighurs despite fresh drone footage

Andrew Marr of BBC confronted the Chinese Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Liu Xiaoming, with a footage of prisoners in Xinjiang being led onto trains. The video, which first surfaced online last year but has recently gone viral, has drawn international condemnation toward China. Ambassador Liu defended China’s human rights record. Since, the interview occurred, the backdrop United Kingdom has announced that it would end its extradition treaty with Hong Kong and begin an arms embargo on the city amid growing concerns of the human rights situation there.
