Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also the commander of China’s Central Military Commission, the top command body of the People’s Liberation Army, issued his first orders of the year to the PLA and called for the military to be ready to “act at any second”. He also demanded an increase in the use of cutting edge technologies in military training exercises and exhorted the PLA to keep up with the latest in military innovations.
