Sentinel Labs has published research indicating that “Mail-O” malware used against the Russian government, including the FSB, originated from China. Early speculation presumed that the attack was conducted by Western governments, such as the United States. Similar attacks to “Mail-O” have occurred among Southeast Asian and Russian targets.
