China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is using a new all terrain vehicle to supply troops stationed at high altitudes in the Himalayas. The vehicle has a tank tread that allows it to traverse 35 degree slopes while hauling a payload of 1.5 tons, according to China’s state broadcaster CCTV. China’s military has used other logistical innovations to keep its high altitude forces supplied, including drones and exo-skeletons that enable soldiers to withstand greater physical burdens. The ability to effectively supply forces at high altitude is instrumental for the PLA as much of China’s shared and contested border with India falls within the Himalayan range.
