SCMP: China-New Zealand relations: upgrade to free-trade agreement eliminates nearly all trade tariffs

China and New Zealand have signed the China-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement after three years of negotiations, eliminating trade tariffs for most items. The timing of the deal comes after President Xi Jinping recently advocated for global cooperation at the virtual Davos World Economic Forum, as well as several weeks after a trade deal between China and Australia, New Zealand’s neighbor and ally, fell through.
