SCMP: China-Africa relations: Beijing’s financial aid leans towards grants, away from cheap loans, white paper shows

A white paper published by China’s State Council Information Office has revealed that Beijing has increased the proportion of grants over cheap loans in development for partners in Africa. A decrease in interest-free loans may signal China’s worries of repayment from African states, while an increase in grants demonstrates Beijing’s shift towards debt relief.
