President Joe Biden released a memorandum Wednesday barring executive agencies and personnel from referring to the Coronavirus by a geographic location such as: “China virus” or “Wuhan Virus”. The memorandum states that, “inflammatory and xenophobic rhetoric has put Asian-American and Pacific Islander persons, families, communities and businesses at risk.” The move is likely to be welcomed in Beijing which has long bridled at associations linking the coronavirus to China. Chinese diplomats are also actively promoting conspiracy theories to suggest that either the Coronavirus appeared naturally at multiple locations across the globe or that it was a manufactured virus released from the U.S. military installation Fort Detrick in Maryland.
