16 Chinese military transport planes came close to violating Malaysia’s airspace while conducting “suspicious” activity over the South China Sea. According to Malaysia’s air force, the Chinese aircraft did not make contact with the regional air traffic controller despite several requests to do so. The incident comes a year after a month-long standoff between a Chinese survey ship and Malaysian oil exploration vessel in Malaysia’s exclusive economic zone.
