Taiwan’s coast guard finds itself in a veritable round the clock mission of chasing away Chinese sand dredging vessels in the vicinity of the Taiwan administered Matsu, Kinmen and Pratas island groups. The mission of the Chinese sand dredging fleet is to destroy the livelihoods of the Taiwanese living on these island groups and to tie down Taiwanese resources in the area.
