Reuters: China urges tech companies to step up management of critical data exports

On Friday, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said that big tech companies should step up the management of exporting “critical data” as well as their risk assessment of data security. China has been revamping its policy towards data security and user privacy and in September it will implement its Data Security Law, which requires companies that process “critical data” to conduct risk assessments and submit reports to authorities.
