On Wednesday night, U.S. President Joe Biden made his first phone call to his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. During the call, President Biden raised thorny issues such as economic relations, political crackdown in Hong Kong and human rights in Xinjiang. Immediately following the call, President Biden called on Congress to pursue his $700 billion investment plan to keep the U.S. competitive with China domestically.
