Nikkei Asian Review: China general says force an option to stop Taiwan independence

Speaking at the end of May on the 15th anniversary of the Anti-Secession Law, Li Zuocheng, chief of the Joint Staff Department and member of the Central Military Commission, said that China will use force should Taiwan declare independence. While China has never renounced the use of force against Taiwan, Li’s comments were still a rare occurrence for a senior official.
