A team of scientists from the World Health Organization will arrive in China on the 14th of January to investigate the origins of the coronavirus outbreak. Last week China denied a number of WHO investigative scientists permission to enter the country, a move that earned a rare chastisement from WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. A number of other countries also voiced their concern over China’s uncooperativeness with regard to studying the origin of the pandemic. China has touted a number of conspiracy theories as to the pandemic’s origins in an effort to evade responsibility for the outbreak. Most recently, China has suggested that the coronavirus could have arrived on its shores via imported frozen food.
