Japan Times: ‘We’re next’: Hong Kong security law sends chills through Taiwan

The new national security law in Hong Kong that is cracking down on democracy on the supposedly autonomous city has sent chills down the spines of the citizens of Taiwan. The new law shows that Beijing does not seriously wish to maintain the “one country, two systems” that has governed the China-Hong Kong relationship for years. Now, seeing the crackdown in Hong Kong, Taiwanese are rightfully wary about ever reunifying with the autocratic mainland.
