On Sunday, the Civil Human Rights Front, the protest coalition which has organized some of the biggest pro-democracy demonstrations in Hong Kong’s history, announced that it is disbanding due to pressure from authorities. Although it espoused non-violence, the coalition faced increasing scrutiny from the government and pro-Beijing camp since the 2019 anti-extradition bill protests.
