This op-ed in the Hindustan Times tracks China’s growing international isolation as a result of repression at home and aggression abroad. It is notable this op-ed was written in one of India’s largest newspapers. New Delhi has been careful in recent years to not aggravate Beijing, viewing the Chinese economic relationship as a needed to further India’s own development. However, with clashes on the Sino-Indian border resulting in the deaths of 20 Indian troops and Chinese crackdown on democracy in Hong Kong, Indian public opinion is noticeably shifting away from China.
