China’s ‘Fuxing’ bullet train will soon be in operation along the Lhasa-Linzhi Railway, the last segment in a track connecting the province of Sichuan and the Tibet Autonomous Region. The railway was completed in December of last year and is projected to be in operation by June. The bullet train travels at speeds up to 160 kph. Given the high altitude nature of much of the track, with 90 percent of the track laying at an altitude of over 3,000 meters, the trains that run the route will have to generate supplemental oxygen for passengers and will also have to be equipped with both electric and internal combustion engines in case of emergency. With the addition of the Fuxing bullet train to the Lhasa-Linzhi Railway, the Fuxing will serve every province of China.
