The Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank, based in Beijing, stated that it was willing to work with Myanmar’s military junta. Meanwhile, other governments and companies with ties to Myanmar are under pressure to sever ties amid the military takeover and crackdown on pro-democracy protests. The bank has established guidelines to deal with de facto governments, including whether the government has effective control of the territory, recognition of financial obligations and potential risk in investments.
