CSIS: Hidden Harbors: China’s State-backed Shipping Industry

The Center for Strategic and International Studies’ new report, “Hidden Harbors: China’s State-backed Shipping Industry” tracks Beijing’s use of formal and informal support for the Chinese maritime shipping industry. As the report points out, Chinese companies are increasingly dominant in this industry, with Beijing using an “complicated and opaque” system “unrivaled in size and scope” to ensure their dominance of this strategic space.
