Coda Story: Uyghurs in Turkey fear China is leveraging its Covid-19 vaccine to have them deported to Xinjiang

Human rights advocates warn that a recently ratified extradition treaty between Beijing and Turkey could have devastating consequences for the 50,000 members of Turkey’s Uyghur community. Activists are also worried that China may use access to its coronavirus vaccine as a means to pressure Turkey into deporting Uyghur exiles back to Xinjiang, where they face repression, possible forced labor and detention without trial.
