Business Insider: The Trump administration is revoking the licenses of companies that supply to Huawei
Tue January, 2021, Age: 2 years
The Trump administration announced today that it was revoking the licenses of companies that supply materials to the Chinese tech giant Huawei. Companies whose licenses to supply chips and other materials to Huawei have been revoked include U.S. firm Intel and the Japanese chip maker Kioxia. Huawei was added to the “Entity List” last year as they were deemed to be a national security threat. Specifically, Huawei’s 5g network and infrastructure is viewed as a vehicle through which China would be able to spy on U.S. assets and individuals. U.S. firms and citizens are not allowed to trade with companies included on the Entity List unless they have obtained a license to do so from the Bureau of Industry and Security Entity List.
