Bloomberg: China’s Data Centers, 5G Network Set to Double Emissions by 2035

In a report published Friday, Greenpeace projected that China’s carbon emissions would double by 2035 due to its rapidly-expanding digital infrastructure. Home to the largest 5G network in the world, many of China’s 5G base stations and data centers are sustained by burning coal. China is projected to emit up to 310 million tons of carbon emissions per year in 2035.
