BBC: Huawei: Time to ditch UK’s laissez-faire policy to tech takeovers?

The BBC provides here a brief history of the Huawei debate within the United Kingdom, in the wake of London’s decision to order all British telecommunication companies to remove all Huawei technology from their systems by 2027, citing them as a security hazard. The decision comes in the wake of US pressure on allies to not use Huawei to build 5G systems. The United Kingdom has notably tried to strike a middle ground in this debate, saying that while there are security risks, they are manageable. London’s most recent decision, is a reversal of this policy.
