AP: Philippines calls allegation of China election influence ‘nonsense’

A former foreign minister Del Rosario suggested that Beijing may have helped to determine the outcome of the 2016 Philippine elections. President Rodrigo Duterte’s office described this as “nonsense” and told the “proven traitor” to “shut up”. Duterte embraces China and is reluctant to criticize its foreign policy or maritime conduct.
