AP: Army of fake fans boosts China’s messaging on Twitter

A joint investigation by the Associated Press and Oxford University’s Internet Institute revealed that a massive network of fake accounts boosted messaging from Chinese state media and diplomats, amplifying its reach online. While Twitter has suspended some fake accounts for violating its rules, it has not been successful in curbing the amplification of pro-China content on the platform.
