According to a new report by the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre, at least 679 incidents of alleged human rights abuses have been uncovered and linked to the business operations of Chinese companies abroad. This sheds light on China’s Belt and Road Initiative and its consequences on marginalised communities, and that alleged abuses were more likely to take place in countries with “weaker governance and where Chinese investments are dominant”.
